Jonathan Brewer enters into his second season with the Howard Bison as the team’s wide receivers coach.  Brewer came to Howard from Livingstone College, where he served as the team’s assistant coach during 2009 and 2010 seasons. During his time with the Blue Bears, Brewer took on the dual responsibility as the director of football operations and receivers coach.  He was also responsible for the development of Omar McFadden, who was the 2009 CIAA Rookie of the Year. 

Brewer also served as the wide receivers coach for Johnson C. Smith University from 2006- 2009.  While coaching with the Golden Bulls, he was responsible for the development of Jeremy Franklin, who was named the 2007 CIAA Rookie of the Year. Under Brewer’s tutelage, Franklin also received first team All-Conference (2007-08) and Daktronics All-Southeast Region (2007) accolades. 
Brewer’s list of proteges include wide receiver Rico Poole, a member of the 2008 All-Rookie Team and punt returner and kick-off/punt returner DeAudra Dix, who was named to the 2007 AFCA Division II Coaches’ All-American, 2007 Special Teams Player of the Year, 2007 and 2006 1st Team All-Conference, 2007 and 2006 Daktronics All-Southeast Region, 2007 Valero Cactus Bowl Participant. 
As a student-athlete, Brewer was a four-year letterman for the Bison football team (1999-2003).  He was a four-time selection to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference All- Academic 1st Team. Brewer was also named a Coca-Cola Academic All-American in 2003. 

He excelled at the wide receiver position and during his senior season and was was named to the All-MEAC Team.  Brewer received his bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in Radio, TV, and film from Howard University.
