Travis Coleman enters his first season as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Howard. He oversees the strength and conditioning efforts for all of Howard's 19 sports. Prior to taking over the strength and conditioning duties for the Bison in the summer of 2007, Coleman spent two years working with Velocity Sports Performance as a Sports Performance Specialist. He was also a personal trainer at Bally Total Fitness (2003-05) and World Gym Express (2002-03). Coleman received his bachelor of arts in human communication and culture from Howard in 2002, where he was a lead quarterback for two years. Prior to transferring to Howard, Coleman played at West Virginia University. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
and is certified by the United States Amateur Weight Lifting
(USAW). In addition, Coleman has played professional football with
the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and
numerous teams within the Arena Football League.
