Shelley Davis-Hill joined Howard University in July 2011 as the Senior Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator. In this role, Davis-Hill is responsible for overseeing the internal operations of the Athletic Department. With her, Davis-Hill brought experience in a variety of facets of athletics administration. Prior to joining the Bison family, Davis-Hill served as the Assistant Commissioner for Championships and Senior Woman Administrator at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). As Assistant Commissioner, Davis-Hill was responsible for the planning, operations, and management of the SWAC Conference Championships and other events.
Prior to joining the SWAC, Davis-Hill served as the Director of Education and Professional Development at the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA), where she planned and directed all aspects of the educational and professional development programming; including the marketing and promotions, budget management, development, and administration of three annual leadership institutes. Working in this capacity also allowed Davis-Hill to be involved in Title IX and Gender Equity education initiatives, in addition to diversity education programming.
Prior to joining the NACWAA national staff, Shelley was an Assistant Athletic Director at North Carolina A&T State University (A&T). At A&T, Davis-Hill had compliance and student-athlete services responsibilities. Additionally, Davis-Hill was integral in the success of the 2006 NCAA Division I East Regional Track and Field Championships held at A&T. She assisted with the event operations and served on the Local Organizing Committee for that and several other high exposure Track & Field Meets, including the USA Track and Field Youth Championships.
Davis-Hill got her start in Athletics as a Certified Athletic Trainer, and held positions in Sports Medicine at Virginia Union University and North Carolina A&T State University prior to transitioning into athletics administration. She also served as Interim Head Men's and Women's Track and Field Coach at Virginia Union University for a brief stint.
Shelley is a graduate of the 2011 Class of NCAA Minority Male and Female Leadership Institute as as several other leadership institutes. She previously served on the NCAA Division I Championships and Sports Administration Cabinet, and is currently a member of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Issues Committee.
Davis-Hill graduated with honors from North Carolina Central University, and is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She and her husband, Terry are the proud parents of Donovan and Kennedy.
