Jamilah Corbitt comes to Howard from Alabama A&M University where she served as assistant SID since 2008.  At Alabama A&M, Corbitt was the primary media contact for seven sports and secondary contact for eight sports.

A native of Washington, DC,  Corbitt served as assistant director of athletic communications at Susquehanna University from October 2007 until her position at Alabama A&M.  At Susquehanna, Corbitt assisted in the public relations efforts for the University’s 23 sports.

Prior to Susquehanna, she served as an athletic media relations student assistant at Central Connecticut State University.  The versatile Corbitt has also served as an on-air personality, and provided color commentary for away men’s basketball games at Alabama A&M.

“We are very excited to have Jamilah join us as a member of the Howard University athletic family,” said Howard sports information director Edward Hill, Jr.  “She brings a high skill level to the program and she has a great knowledge of sports.  She follows a line of outstanding professionals in Kevin Paige (Morgan State), Romanda Noble (South Carolina State) and Chevonne Mansfield (Southwestern Athletic Conference) and I am confident that she will also make her mark.  She is going to be a big asset to the program.”

Corbitt was a standout student-athlete and McDonald’s All-American nominee at Archbishop John Carroll High School in Washington, DC.  From there, she attended the University of Vermont in 2003-04 where she was apart of the women’s basketball team, before transferring to Central Connecticut State to complete her eligibility.

Corbitt received her BA in English from Central Connecticut State, graduating with a 3.0 GPA.

She will be responsible for the maintenance of the University athletic website in addition to her duties as primary contact for many of the 19 intercollegiate sports.
