Adria Washington enters her first year as Associate Athletics Director and third full year as Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) in the Division of Student Affairs at Howard University.  As the SWA at Howard University, she is very much aware of the need to ensure that the Department of Athletics operates in accordance with the gender equity requirements of Title IX.  She is responsible for maintaining communications with the many University departments that impact Title IX enforcement and oversight. Her dual positions place her in constant contact with the great majority of the University's student-athletes. Additionally, Washington serves as the advisor of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).  In this capacity, Washington guides the committee in its selection of projects which are chosen to provide all student-athletes with opportunities to develop leadership among them and assist charitable efforts in the surrounding community.  She also functions as the administrator of the women's volleyball, softball, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track and cross country teams.  Forging many bonds between the University community and athletics, she plans to continue to serve the University with great pride, purpose and dedication.

A native of Washington, D.C., she is a member NACWAA/HERS, NACDA, MEAC Academic Advisory Committee and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Mrs. Washington continues to participate in alumni activities at her alma mater, Virginia State University. She is married and is the proud parent of two children Bryan, Jr. and Bria Washington (who was a ball girl at HU's women's basketball games and at various high school contests in the D.C. area).
