Williamson is in his 12th season as the University's compliance officer.  His primary responsibility is to ensure that the University is in compliance with NCAA and MEAC rules and regulations.  He also functioned as ticket manager for the department of athletics.

Prior to these experiences, Williamson served as the head basketball coach at Howard University from 1975-90.  Williamson is the most successful men's basketball coach in school history, compiling a 240-180 record while capturing four regular season titles, two MEAC tournament championships and the school's first ever NCAA appearance.  Several of Williamson's former players and assistant coaches are presently serving as head or assistant coaches in college basketball including Dennis Felton (head coach, University of Georgia), Milan Brown (head coach, Mount Saint Mary's), Cy Alexander (head coach, Tennessee State University), Mike Jones (assistant coach, University of Georgia), and Jeff Williams (assistant women's coach, University of Pittsburgh).

 Because of his many contributions to the Howard University athletics program, Williamson was inducted into the MEAC Hall of Fame and the University's Hall of Fame in 1997.  He was also honored at the 2003 Jordan Classic Basketball game for his accomplishments during his tenure as a high school basketball coach.

Reared in Washington, DC, Williamson prepped at Spingarn High School.  He played baseball at North Carolina A&T.  After graduating in 1968, he joined the Eastern High School staff as a physical education instructor while earning his master's from Bowie State College in 1972.  He has two daughters, Romona and Sarita.
