Edward Hill, Jr. was appointed Sports Information Director (SID) in March of 1986 after serving six months as acting SID and two years as assistant SID. He is the primary contact for the Bison football and men's basketball teams.

Before coming to Howard, Hill was a staff writer for the Winston-Salem Chronicle and the Black College Sports Review. He also worked as a news aide and freelance writer for the Washington Post. Hill has written stories that have appeared in such publications as USA Today and the NCAA News.

Hill is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and Black College Sports Information Directors of America (BCSIDA). He is also active in the Washington, DC community where he served as head coach and co-founder of the DC Warriors basketball program and as a counselor for the National Youth Sports Program. Hill is also an adjunct professor at Howard University where he teaches a Sports and the Media course every spring.

Under Hill's direction, numerous careers started in Howard's sports information office including those of Bruce Speight, a public relations/marketing assistant for the New York Giants of the National Football League and Teri Washington, former director of media relations for the Denver Nuggets.

Hill was honored by CoSIDA as the 2005 Bob Kenworthy Award recipient for his community service outside the profession. He received a second award from CoSIDA in 2009 for 25 years in the profession.

Hill was inducted into the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Hall of Fame in March 2010 for his contributions to the league.

The 60-year old native of Wilmington, NC, received his Bachelor of Arts in Communicative Arts/Journalism from the University of the District of Columbia. The 2010 MEAC Hall of Fame inductee is married and has six children and three grandchildren.
