Bethea Named To SBN All-American Team
Howard University’s Antoine Bethea has been named to the American Urban Radio Network 2005 Sheridan Broadcasting Network Black College All-American team. It is the third time that Bethea has been so honored, making him one of only four honorees (Steve McNair/Tennessee Titans), former Bison standout Tracy White (Jacksonville Jaguars) and Shannon Sharpe (formerly of Denver Broncos, now a CBS analyst) to be selected for three straight years.
A 6-0, 190-pound senior safety from Newport News, VA, Bethea recorded 49 solo tackles, 34 assisted tackles, 3 tackles for losses and a career-best 5 interceptions this past season as the Bison defense again ranked among the best in both the MEAC and in 1-AA. For his career, Bethea registered 190 solo tackles, 114 assisted tackles 13 tackles for losses, 8 interceptions, 6 fumble recoveries and 5 forced fumbles.
Bethea will be honored at the 32nd Annual BCAA Awards Banquet on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta, GA.
