Hardie, Williams Named To 2007 SBN All American team

  WASHINGTON, D.C. - 

Rudy Hardie and Jarahn "J-Boy" Williams have been name to the 2007 Sheridan Broadcasting Network (SBN) Black College All American team.  They will be honored during the Annual BCAA Awards Weekend, February 15-16 in Atlanta, GA.

Hardie, a 6-2, 270-pound senior defensive end from Hartford, CT is a repeat performer from the 2006 team.  On the season, the one-man wrecking crew recorded 46 solo tackles, 26 assists, a whopping 24.5 tackles for losses, 11 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 10 QB hurries and a fumble recovery.  A 2007 first team All-MEAC selection, Hardie led the conference in sacks and tackles for losses and finished second in Football College Subdivision (FCS, formerly 1-AA) and tied for 4th in sacks.

One of the more durable players in school history, Hardie started 33 games in a row during the last three seasons and finished his career with 50 tackles for losses 23.5 sacks.

Williams made one of the more remarkable comebacks in recent school history.  After spending a year and a half recovering from a shoulder surgery, Williams had the best season of his career.  The 5-11, 175-pound senior caught 59 passes for 707 yards and a school record 15 TD passes.

A first team All-MEAC selection, Williams led the team in scoring and receiving.  In the process, the Academic All-American candidate set a school career record for TD reception passes with 23 as well as the single-season mark for TD receptions (15) and for most consecutive games with a TD reception (11).

Williams and Hardie are piling up the post-season honors.  Williams has been named the Pigskin Club of Washington, DC Metropolitan College Player of the Year.  He will be honored on Friday, January 18 at the awards banquet at the Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC.  Williams has also been selected to play in the American Heritage Bowl at the Cal State Fullerton Titan Field on Saturday, January 26 at 6 pm.

Hardie has been invited to play in the Texas versus the Nation All-Star game on February 2 in El Paso, Texas.
