Trio Named To Pre-season All-MEAC Team

Willie Carter, Sackie Kerkulah and Keith Pough were named to the 2011 Pre-season All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference team.

Carter, a 6-3, 195-pound senior wide receiver from Denmark, SC, grabbed 29 passes for 563 yards and three TDs last season while averaging almost 20 yards per catch.  He is generally regarded as one of the top wide receivers in the FCS.

Kerkulah, a 6-4, 255-pound senior defensive end from Wilingboro, NJ, had his best season in 2010, collecting 25 solos, 20 assists, 13.0 tackles for losses and 4 sacks, all career bests.

Pough was no surprise after being named to the 2010 All-MEAC first team.  The 6-3, 235-pound red-shirt junior linebacker from Orangeburg, SC, led the MEAC in total tackles with 100, in tackles for losses with 28.5 and in sacks with 10.5.  Pough also recorded 5 QB hurries, an interception and a fumble recovery and his 4 forced fumbles ranked among the nation’s best.
