Pough Receives Another Preseason Honor

Washington, DC—Howard University’s Keith Pough has been named to the preseason watch list for the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Linebacker of the Year Award given by the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA).  He has also been cited as one of the Top 10 linebackers in FCS by the Sports Network.

The 6-3, 235-pound red-shirt junior from Orangeburg, SC captured the award last year.  The CFPA gives out weekly and yearly positional awards based on objective, scientific ratings of the extent to which the players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.

In 2010, Pough led all FCS players with 28.5 tackles for losses for 148 yards in losses, including 10.5 sacks for 84 yards in losses.  That ranked among all players in the Top 10.  He also added four forced fumbles, which ranked among the tops in that category.

Pough, who was named to the 2010 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference first team, collected 35 solo tackles, 22 assisted tackles and 12.5 tackles for losses in 9 games played during his freshman season in 2009.

He has now amassed 157 total tackles, including 40 tackles for losses in two seasons and is on schedule to break several school and perhaps conference records.

Pough joins four other MEAC linebackers on the list of 41:  Ryan Davis and Ryan Lewis of Bethune Cookman, Allen Stephens of Morgan State and Roger Stewart of North Carolina Central.
