Written by Ariel V. Germain, Assistant Sports Information Director

WASHINGTON, D.C. (www.howard-bison.com) – February 8 – Howard University Head Football Coach Gary "Flea" Harrell concluded his third National Signing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 6 with 18 student-athletes from across the United States of America, while adding additional signees on Thursday, Feb. 7.

"This 2013 class is a solid group," said Flea.  "The most important and intriguing thing is their academic status. Howard is an institution experienced, dynamic, and diverse.  I look forward to connecting with the mind, the heart, and the soul of these individuals.  In addition, by coming to Howard gives these young men an opportunity to connect with their future which will aid in their success in education and in their chosen careers.  Here at Howard University, the football program is building for the future.  This recruiting class will give us an opportunity to add depth to certain areas on the team.  We are adding a wide range of speed, agility, and strength by bringing these individuals to the program."

Following the official release, HU received two additional National Letters of Intent on Thursday, Feb. 7.

"We will like to thank the Howard Alums, the faculty/staff, administrators, and the student population for all the support," said Flea.  "Howard is a special place.  We excel academically as well as athletically. Our theme for 2013 will be 'Build the Bridge'.  A large part was established today.  We believe that we must build a bridge that will connect us from this year to next year.  This bridge must carry over all the good qualities from 2012. Most importantly, we will build a bridge to get over any obstacles that will attempt to limit our success. "
