The Howard University football team will close out its spring practice on Saturday with the Annual Spring game at 1 pm in Greene Stadium. The spring game will feature a point system that rewards the defense with points for turnovers, sacks and tackles for losses. The offense will get its points off touchdowns and field goals. All PATs, field goals and punts will be done without a rush.

A 6-3, 235-pound red-shirt senior linebacker from Orangeburg, S.C., is coming off a brilliant season in which he led the team in tackles with 120. Pough also recorded 21.0 tackles for losses behind the line of scrimmage, ranking him second in the MEAC and eighth overall in the country.

Greg McGhee has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the third time this season. A 6-3, 200-pound freshman quarterback from Pittsburgh, PA, McGhee completed 11 of 17 passes for 158 yards and three TDs while also rushing for a 57-yard TD run in Howard University’s 34-14 win over Savannah State this past Saturday. Napier was the starting offensive guard for the Howard football team from 1974 until 1978. A 6-3, 225-pound red-shirt freshman linebacker from Orangeburg, S.C., was credited with nine solo tackles, two assisted tackles and two tackles for losses.

Howard University Mourns Loss of Fallen Bison
The Howard University athletic family is mourning the loss of former Bison football player Eddie Graham Hayes. Hayes played for Howard from 1984-89 and was a player on the 1987 team that finished 9-1 and was nationally ranked.
