Portland State Keeps Howard Winless

Ames, IA—November 26—Anthony Washington scored 15 points and Tyler Hollist added 12 as Portland State defeated Howard University, 81-53 in the Cyclone Classic.

            Washington and Tyler did most of their damage during the first when the Vikings (2-3) bolted out to an early lead, posting a 42-19 advantage at the half.

            Washington hit on 6 of 9 shots from the field and Washington 5 of 8 while also adding 8 rebounds and 6 assists to his resume.

            Howard (0-3) again had problems scoring during long stretches and lost the battle on the boards, 45-27.

            Junior guard Will Gant led the Bison with 12 points while Darek “Skip” Mitchell added 11.  Senior point guard Louis Ford scored only 3 points, but he finished with 9 assists.

            The Bison get a week off before returning to the hardwood on Monday, December 5 against Navy in the B B&T Classic at the MCI Center at 4 p.m.
