James Wilhelmi Named Men's Assistant Coach

  Howard University Names Wilhelmi To Staff

                                                                                                                                                              Howard University announces that James Wilhelmi has been named as an assistant coach to the men’s basketball staff.

Wilhelmi has paid his dues and he brings a wealth of experience to the staff of new head coach Gil Jackson. 

He comes to Howard after serving as assistant coach at Salisbury University last season.

            Prior to that tenure, Wilhelmi served as head boys basketball coach at Sussex Central High School in Georgetown, DE from 2003 to 2004.

            He has also served as an assistant at University of Evansville from 2002-2003; at Texas Southern University from 2001 to 2002; at University of Maryland Eastern Shore from 2000 to 2001;  at Hampton University from 1998 to 2000; and at Northeastern Illinois from 1997 to 1998 and University of  Wisconsin-Stevens Point for two years.

            Wilhelmi received his bachelor of science degree in physical education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (1995) and his masters of science degree in human development and community resources from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 1997.

            As an athlete, Wilhelmi played prep basketball at La Follette High School in Madison, WI and went on to letter in football at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for three years.
