Myatt Scores Career-High In Loss To LaSalle
Philadelphia, PA-November 21-Eugene Myatt returned home and scored a career-high 26 points, but it was not enough as Howard University dropped an 84-78 decision to LaSalle at the Tom Gola Center.
Myatt, a 6-6 sophomore forward from the City of Brotherly Love, connected on 10 of 15 from the field, including a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point range to lead the Bison (1-3), who played the Explorers (2-0) tough on their home court.
The game was a nip-and-tuck affair throughout with Howard leading by as many as seven. The Bison shot 49 percent from the field, but committed 18 turnovers that LaSalle converted into 27 points.
Howard had problems containing Explorers' guard Darnell Harris, who poured in 16 of his career-high 27 points in the second half and Paul Johnson (Gonzaga HS), who came off the bench to tally 10 of his career-high 15 after intermission.
Darryl Hudson, who came in the game, averaging 20 points per game for the Bison, was limited to 11, only two in the second half. Jeron Smith, who started for the first time this season, scored 8 points and dealt out a career-high 6 assists while Jason Trotter came off the bench for Howard to score 9 points and grab 7 rebounds.
The Bison will try to get their second win of the season when they open the home schedule this Saturday in a 7 pm non-conference contest against VMI in Burr Gymnasium.
