Howard Travels Crosstown to Face Off With American
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Tuesday's game is a non conference match-up between the Bison of Howard from the MEAC and the Eagles of American from the Patriot League. The Bison (3-5) are coming off a 65-31 blowout loss to league rival Hampton this past Saturday in the Big Apple Classic in New York while the Eagles (4-4) dropped an 83-66 decision to UMBC on Saturday at home that snapped a two-game win streak.

The Coaches
Howard is coached by Gil Jackson (Elizabethtown College,
'69), who is in his third season and has an 18-48 career record to
date. American University is coached by Jeff Jones
(University of Virginia, ‘82), who is in his eighth season
there and has a 108-105 record to date. Jones' overall record
is 254-209 in 16-plus seasons as a head coach.
Series Record
American defeated Howard, 85-75 last year in Burr
Gymnasium. The Eagles hold a 9-3 advantage in the series.
Eagles Nests
American's opponents are averaging almost five blocked
shots per game...Mercer is shooting 55 percent from the field and
56 percent from beyond the stripe...He leads the team in scoring,
minutes played and assists...the 83 points scored by UMBC was the
most allowed by the Eagles this season.
Bison Hooves
The 31 points scored in the loss to Hampton was the fewest by the
Bison in a game since last November in the season opener to the
University of Cincinnati...Myatt leads the team in scoring, minutes
played and is tied for assists...Myatt failed to score in
double figures for the first time this season...Howard was
out-rebounded 53-26 by Hampton, including 27-7 on the offensive
glass...The Bison shot a season-low 27 percent, missing 11 of 12
from three-point range...Paul Kirkpatrick had a season-best 10
points and four rebounds, making all five of his shots from the
field...The Bison committed a season-high 28 turnovers that Hampton
converted into 28 points.

Howard travels to Lexington, VA on Saturday to take on the Keydets
of Virginia Military Institute at 1 pm while the Eagles host
