THE GAME: This is the first round of the Philly Classic featuring the Greyhounds of Loyola College from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) against the Bison of Howard University from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) in the opening game while Robert Morris against Drexel University clash in the second game. Loyola (3-2) had its three-game win streak snapped in a 94-80 loss to Seton Hall on Tuesday. The Greyhounds dropped their season opener to Towson and then reeled off wins over Penn, American and Vermont. The Bison recorded a 69-63 come-from-behind win over LaSalle University at home on Tuesday for their second straight win. Howard opened the season with a loss to Duquesne and to the University of Virginia on the road before defeating Penn, 80-65 last Saturday then over LaSalle.
THE COACHES: Loyola College is coached by Jimmy Patsos (Catholic, ‘89), who is in his fourth season there and has a 42-50 career record to date. Howard is coached by Gil Jackson (Elizabethtown College, '69), who is also in his third season and has an 18-46 career record to date.
