The Game
The Howard men's basketball team faces off with South Carolina State in a game televised live on ESPNU. The Bison are coming off a 75-63 win over Winston-Salem State on Saturday. The loss snapped a 14-game losing streak for HU.

C.J. Prince had a career-high 21 points in the win. Randy Hampton and Kyle Riley added 14 each while Eugene Myatt and Paul Kirkpatrick each contributed 10.

South Carolina State fell to Hampton, 74-60 in its last time out. Jason Johnson, Josh Jackson and Jason Flagler each had 11 points for the Bulldogs.

Scouting South Carolina State
The Bulldogs are 6-9 and have a 1-2 mark in conference play. Jason Johnson is averaging a team-high 14.6 points per game while Jason Flagler is scoring 13.7 points per game for South Carolina State. Johnson is also tops on the team with 7.7 rebounds per game. 

The Bulldogs are coached by Tim Carter, who is in his second season at South Carolina State. He has a 13-20 mark overall at SCSU and a 173-172 record in 12 years as a head coach.

Myatt Hits 1,000 Career Points
Senior forward Eugene Myatt (Philadelphia, Pa./Lutheran Academy) scored his 1,000th point versus Winston-Salem State on Jan. 17...Myatt became the 18th player in school history to reach the 1,000 point mark.

Pounding Pavement
Howard opens up its regular season with just three home games before January. HU hosted Oregon State in its season opener on Nov. 14 before making the trek to Navy on Nov. 16. The Bison played host to cross-town rival American on Nov. 19 before traveling north to face St. John's (N.Y.) on November 22. Howard hosted Illinois-Chicago (UIC) and Canisius on November 25 and December 1, respectively, before taking on Hampton in the Big Apple Classic on December 6.

HU is on the road again at Oregon State on December 20 and plays Portland two days later before facing off with Utah State in the Duel in the Desert Classic in Logan, Utah. Tourney play pits Howard against the host Aggies on December 29. Wyoming is the foe on day two and the Bison wrap up the month with a December 31 matchup against Houston Baptist on day three of the classic.

Bison Picked Ninth in the MEAC
The Howard University men's basketball team has been picked to finish ninth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's annual preseason poll, as voted on by the League's Head Coaches and Sports Information Directors. The announcement was made on October 15 in Winston-Salem, N.C. as part of the 2008-09 Tip-Off Media Luncheon. Morgan State (MSU) was picked first as the Bears garnered 15 first-place votes with 443 points. MSU was followed by Hampton (370 points) while Delaware State rounds out the top three.
