Jenkins Leads FAMU to OT Win Over Howard

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. - Rashmeen Jenkins scored seven of his team-high 15 points in the overtime to lead Florida A&M University to a 72-67 win over Howard in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference men's game at the Alfred Lawson Center.

After the Bison (7-21 overall, 6-6 in the MEAC) rallied from a nine-point deficit to tie the game at 59-all in regulation, Jenkins scored the first five points to take a 68-65 lead.

Curtis White canned a three pointer to get the Bison to within three, but the Rattlers (7-19 overall, 4-9 in the MEAC) knocked down four of six free throws to put the game away.   

Florida A&M bolted out to a 32-24 halftime lead on the scoring of Yannick Crowder, Travis Wallace and Amina Stevens, who each scored six points.

In the second half, the Bison got a boost from Adam Walker and reserves Kyle Riley and Calvin Thompson, who combined for 23 of the team's points during the run that sent the game into an extra period.

Walker recorded a double-double of 10 points and a career-high 14 rebounds while Riley tallied a season best 15 points and Paul Kirkpatrick and Curtis White chipped in with 10 apiece.

The Rattlers were led by Jenkins' 15 points, Bryant's 14 and Crowder's 12.

NEXT UP: The Bison will try to rebound when they take on the Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach, FL on Monday at 7:30 pm while the Rattlers host Hampton University on Monday at 7:30 pm.
