Leary Receives Honor For Second Straight Week

NORFOLK, VA - Alphonso Leary has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the second straight week.

A 6-8, 190-pound freshman center from Norfolk, VA, Leary totaled 30 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, picked up three steals and blocked two shots in games against Bethune-Cookman and Maryland Eastern Shore this past week.

Against the Wildcats, Leary shot 70 percent (7 of 10) from the field en route to a career-high 21 points.  He also connected on 7 of 12 from the free throw line while adding two assists, a block and a steal.

It marked the second straight week that Leary, a strong candidate for the MEAC All-Rookie team, has been so honored.  He currently leads the team in blocks and is second in rebounding.
