Bison Try To End Slide in Consolation Matchup
Orlando, FL—The Howard University men's basketball team will be looking to end its current three-game losing streak when it takes on Boston University in the consolation game of the UCF Holiday Classic at 5 pm at the UCF Arena.
The Bison (3-11) gave a strong effort in their 62-45 loss to the Knights in the opening round but the season-long nemesis of foul trouble and fatigue again proved to be the difference. Despite a solid defensive effort against UCF, Howard was unable to generate enough offense to come out victorious.
The Knights entered the game as one of the top shooting teams in the country at 51 percent from the field and 41 percent from beyond the arc, but the Bison were able to stymie the hosts and limited them to 41 percent from the floor and a season-low 27 percent from the three-point line.
To snap he current slide, Howard must get more point production from senior guard Calvin Thompson and senior forward Mike Phillips, who each scored only six points as no Bison player reached double figures.
The Terriers (5-7), from the America East Conference had their two-game win streak snapped in a 64-48 loss to Belmont in the opening round.
