Howard Suffers First Conference Loss to Hartwick By Elliott Jones WASHINGTON DC, Oct. 9—Junior defender Adam Mitchinson scored on a header in the 56th minute and Hartwick College added another score to defeat Howard University, 2-0 at Greene Stadium. The Hawks (7-3-1, 2-0-0 ASC) remain perfect in Atlantic Soccer Conference play, while the Bison (1-8-1, 1-1-0 ASC) suffer their first conference loss of the season. The game had been originally scheduled for Saturday, October 9, but was re-scheduled due to inclement weather. A free kick on the left side set up Hartwick’s first score, as junior defender Craig Potter sent a curving ball to the near post where it was subsequently headed in by Mitchinson. The Hawks’ second goal was the result of a corner kick, again headed into the goal, but this time by junior defender Tyler Hemming. The Bison were able to remain close in the first half, entering the break at 0-0. A miraculous save from senior goalkeeper Jason Williams, in which he dove to sweep the ball off of the goal line, kept Howard in the game early. However, the lack of offense down the stretch kept the Bison from coming out on top. Howard travels to Philadelphia University for its next match on Oct. 16. Hartwick 2, Howard 0 Hartwick
