Bison Drop Heartbreaker in ASC Match

Newark, NJ-September 30-Greg Spaulding scored the game-winning goal 3:54 into overtime to lead New Jersey Institute of Technology to a 2-1 win over Howard in a key Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) game at Lubetkin Field.

            Spaulding's shot was a header that got inside the right post.

            The Bison (2-8-1, 0-2-0 in the ASC) took the early lead at 1-0 when Nasheed Sabree scored the game's first goal with 1:10 remaining in the first half on an assist from Sulyaman Camara.

            The Highlanders (2-7-1, 1-0-1 in the ASC) tied the score at 1-1 on a Robert Hererra goal in the 80^th minute.

            The loss dealt a blow to the Bison's hopes of making the four-team field that qualifies for the conference playoffs.  Howard already has two losses in conference play with four remaining.  The winner of the tournament gets an automatic to the NCAAs.

            The Bison go out of conference on Tuesday when they travel cross town to take on the Hoyas of Georgetown at 3 pm.  They will return to conference action next Saturday on the road against Hartwick.
