Howard Men Drop Fourth Straight

Howard Drops Fourth Straight

Baltimore, MD-September 21, 2006-Kevin Mezzadra scored the go-ahead goal and then added an insurance goal to give the University of Maryland Baltimore County a 3-1 win over Howard in a non-conference men's soccer match.

Mezzadra, who recorded a rare hat trick (three goals in one game), scored the game's first goal as the Retrievers (3-5-1) led 1-0 at halftime.  The Bison (1-6-1), who dropped their fourth straight, tied the score at 1-1 on an unassisted goal by Marcel Storer in the 63rd minute.

Mezzarda scored less than a minute later on an assist from Dan Maudslay.

It marked the first time this season that Howard has out-shot (10-8) its opponent.  Freshman Joel Senior again led the team in shots with three while goalkeeper Chris Taylor recorded four saves.

Howard opens Atlantic Soccer Conference play at Adelphi University on Saturday at 1 pm.
