Howard Plays Mt. Saint Mary's To Tie

Howard Plays To Scoreless Tie

The Howard University men's soccer team continues to show improvement, but it still remains winless as the Bison (0-2-1) played visiting Mount Saint Mary's to a scoreless tie in a non-conference men's soccer game at Greene Stadium.

After playing 90 minutes of regulation, Howard appeared to be in good shape going into the extra period against The Mount (0-0-1).  But again, as in the previous two losses to American University and George Washington, the Bison squandered opportunities.

"I am disappointed because we had some excellent scoring opportunities and failed to capitalize," said Howard head coach Keith Tucker.  "We worked on some combinations for this game that we felt would work, but I never saw them out there."

Added Lemuel Lyons, "I had some good chances to score, especially in the extra time, but I didn't finish.  We just have to keep working as a team."

Freshman Joel Senior again led Howard in shots (4) and shots on goal (3) while goalkeeper Chris Taylor played all 110 minutes and recorded five saves.

"We were hoping for a win, especially in our home opener," said Taylor.  "But at least it wasn't a loss.  It shows that we are improving."

The Bison will try to get their first win when they take on LaSalle University on September 8 in the first round of the Drexel University tournament.
