Eagles Down Bison on the Road

BOCA RATON, FLA. - Florida Atlantic scored the game winning goal in the 87th minute and clinched the Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) regular season title with a 1-0 win over Howard Friday night at FAU field.

Javier Carillo scored the unassisted goal for the Eagles at 86:32 after firing the ball down the left side past Howard keeper Victor Thomas.

The Bison forced the action throughout, earning an overwhelming 13-1 advantage on corner kicks. The team's best scoring chance came in the 51st minute as a Matt Marshall header hit squarely off the crossbar. Howard outshot FAU 10-8 for the game.

The loss drops the HU to 3-6-5 (1-2-1 ASC). Thomas stopped two shots while Phillip Lamarre picked up three saves for Florida Atlantic.

Howard will return to action on Sunday with a non-conference matchup against Florida Gulf Coast at Fort Meyers, Fla.
