Men's Soccer Match at Philadelphia Ends in a Scoreless Tie
PHILADELPHIA, PA. - The Howard men's soccer team (2-3-4, 0-0-1 ASC) engaged in a defensive showdown with Philadelphia University (1-8-2, 1-0-1 ASC) on Saturday afternoon at Ravenhill Field in Philadelphia and earned a scoreless draw with the Rams after neither team scored in 110 minutes of play. The match was the conference opener for the Bison.
The shutout is the second of the season for Howard, who also held Columbia Union without a goal in the eighth match of the season on Sept. 30.
Freshman Victor Thomas had 10 saves in the match to help Howard to its second straight shutout. Ezra Cassell picked up three saves for Philadelphia.
The Rams held a 17-8 edge in shots in the match, as Devon Kipp fired five shots. Jamil Devers and Guilherme Fonseca recorded three shots each to lead the Bison. The two teams finished tied in corner kicks with two.
Howard was limited to three shots on goal while the Rams had 10. The Bison will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 6 with a non-conference matchup against Navy at 7pm in Annapolis.
