Men's Soccer Drops Season Opener to George Mason

FAIRFAX, VA. - The Howard men's soccer team dropped its season opener to George Mason Friday evening on the opening day of the D.C. College Cup.

The first period ended without a goal on either side. George Mason's Fro Adu knocked a shot past Howard's Chris Taylor at 52:08 to give Mason a 1-0 lead. Adu added another goal shortly thereafter and Chris Chaves made it 3-0 after successfully completing a free kick at the 68:32 mark.

George Mason's offense kept the pressure on Taylor all night, taking 15 shots, while the Patriots defensive pressure held the Bison to six shots in the match.

Joel Senior and Guilerme Fonseca had a pair of shots while Lamar Hyde and Emile Innocent added one shot each.

HU returns to action on at the D.C. Cup on Sunday with a non-conference match against George Washington at 1pm.
