Howard Comeback Falls Short on Senior Day
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Howard rallied and scored goals at the end of the first half and midway through the second half, but it was not enough as Longwood took down HU, 4-2 in the men's soccer home finale Wednesday evening at Greene Stadium.
Prior to the start of the game, seniors Ian Clarke, Anderson Haynes, Adisa Bekoe, Robert Wesley and Guilherme Fonseca were honored for their careers with the Bison.
Bekoe made three saves for Howard (1-14-1, 0-3 ASC). Joel Helmick picked up the win for the Lancers, stopping six shots for Longwood (7-7-3, 2-1 ASC).
Wesley had the first scoring opportunity for the Bison, but fired wide in the 18th minute.
Fonseca followed with a shot for HU in the 28th minute, but also missed the target.
Stuart Crooks had another scoring chance in the 40th minute before Fredrick Burguess scored an unassisted for the Bison at 42:48, closing the gap to 2-1.
Rotimi Iziduh added the second goal for Howard at 78:13 on an assist from Lemuel Lyons.
HU wraps up its regular season on Saturday with a league decision against Adelphi at 2pm.
