WASHINGTON, D.C. - Eric Detzel had two goals to lead Mount St. Mary's to a 5-0 win over Howard Wednesday evening in the Bison home opener at Greene Stadium.
"We played against a very good Mount team today," said head coach Michael Lawrence. "I thought the game was a mirror image of the whole season, too many mistakes. We have to do a better job of possessing the ball. We stayed in the game and worked hard as a team, but we have to take better care of the ball to create more opportunities."
Six different players recorded shots in the outing for HU (0-6-1). Senior Guilherme Fonseca led the way with four - two were on goal - and Jamil Devers finished second with three.
Although the Bison had a solid offensive outing with 12 shots in the contest, it could not match Mount St Mary's efforts, as the Mount fired 17 shots, and 11 were on goal.
Howard returns home on Friday and will look to get on the winning track when it hosts Liberty at 7 pm.
