WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Bison men's soccer team was victorious in their second scrimmage of the season on Wednesday. HU won 2-1 against an alumni team that featured former standouts Asa Davis, Haribo Kamara-Taylor and Guilherme Fonseca, among others.

Howard started out with their reserves and possession was just about even in the first few minutes. In the 11th minute senior midfielder Greg Westbrook capitalized on a defensive error to give the Bison a 1-0 lead with a neat chip over the alumni goalkeeper. Howard brought on their starters midway through the first half and took further control of the game, but conceded a goal as the alumni team leveled the score through a Jelani Scott tap-in 15 minutes before the half. Lemuel Lyons sent freshman forward Phillip Borde through on a one-on-one with the keeper who made a spectacular save to keep the score even. Junior Matt Marshall came close to scoring with a header in the 41st minute.

HU came out energetic after the break. Transfer student Gary Clark made some timely tackles on defense as he impressed on his debut. Rotimi Iziduh scored in the 50th minute after putting a shot past the keeper on an assist from Lyons. Howard came close to extending the lead in the 62nd minute on a shot by Brian Cunningham. Bison keeper Victor Thomas made a brilliant save in the 80th minute on an alumni counter attack to preserve the one goal lead.
