LEXINGTON, VA. - Lamar Hyde provided the equalizer as the Howard men's soccer team tied VMI, 1-1. Freshman Larry Turner made a career-high 10 saves for the Bison. Olivia Moore had a goal for the Keydets, while Brian Sowell made seven saves.
VMI (1-7-1) went up 1-0 in the eighth minute after Moore fired a shot past Turner from 12 yards out.
In the 15th minute, however, HU tied the game at 1-1 after Hyde found the back of the net on an assist from Phillip Borde.
Howard (2-8-1) created five scoring chances in the extra frames and outscored the Keydets 5-3.
Overall, VMI held a 28-16 advantage in shots but the Bison led 10-9 in corner kicks.
HU faces off with conference foe Adelphi on Saturday, Oct. 10.
