Red Flash Slip Past Howard
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Howard men's soccer team allowed a goal early in the second half and could not find the equalizer in a 1-0 defeat to St. Francis (PA) on Sunday.
Lemuel Lyons paced HU with a team-high three shots, two of those on goal. Lamar Hyde had a pair of shots while Phillip Borde and Ray Ekobena each contributed one shot apiece.
Senior goalkeeper Victor Thomas had a game-high seven saves.
Wayne Tiller scored the game-winner, an unassisted goal, at 57:01.
Red Flash keeper Darius Motazed had six saves for SFU, who improved to 4-5 with the win. The loss dropped HU to 2-6.
Howard next travels to Houston, Texas for the HBU Classic beginning Friday, Oct. 2. The Bison face off with San Jose State at 2pm before wrapping up tourney play against Air Force on Oct. 4 at noon.
