Boxscore

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Junior Rodino Wright converted a first half penalty kick as Howard played to a 1-1 tie against NJIT.  The decision was the final home contest for seniors Victor Thomas, Lemuel Lyons, Kareem Williams, Lamar Hyde, Harvey Livingston, Rotimi Iziduh and Gregory Westbrook.

Thomas made 12 saves in goal for the Bison. Pete Walker tallied a goal to lead the Highlanders, while Ryan Sutherland made six saves.

Scott Reitze was whistled for a red card three minutes into the game and Howard was awarded a penalty kick. Wright stepped up to the spot and buried a kick inside the right post to give HU a 1-0 lead.

NJIT, though, would score the equalizer in the seventh minute. Following a pass from Gustav Warfving, Walker collected the ball and fired a quick shot into the back of the net from five yards out.

The Highlanders earned consecutive corner kicks in the 82nd and 83rd minutes, but could not capitalize and the game later headed to overtime.

Matt Marshall, looking for his second golden goal in as many games, had the final scoring opportunity of the game, but his shot in the 104th minute was wide and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

HU wrapped up a 1-0-1 weekend after defeating conference foe Houston Baptist at home on Friday. That matchup also marked the return of 100+ alumni from the soccer program as Howard welcomed members from past squads. Five generations of Bison booters from the 1960's, 1970's, 1980's, 1990's and on celebrated HU's win over the Huskies.

Howard (3-11-3, 1-1- ASC) will now await its seeding for the Atlantic Soccer Tournament on Nov. 12-15 in Farmville, Va.
