WASHINGTON, D.C. - The men's soccer team defeated Longwood 2-1 in its conference opener Saturday night at Greene Stadium. With the win, the Bison improve to 2-9-1 on the season, including a 1-0 mark in the American Soccer Conference.

Phillip Borde scored a header goal off a cross through several defenders by Ray Ekobena at the 24:55 mark. Longwood responded 12 minutes later with a goal of its own to even the score. Howard's next goal came at the 38:23 from Claudy St. Louis 15 yards out.

The loss drops Longwood to 1-9-2 on the season and 0-1 in the ASC.

Howard is back in action on Oct. 17 at home against Adelphi. The game is slated for 4 p.m.
