Men's Soccer Edged 3-1 in Penalty Kicks in ASC Semi-finals

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The Howard men's soccer team and Houston Baptist battled to a 0-0 double-overtime tie Friday afternoon in the Atlantic Soccer Conference semifinals on the campus of Adelphi University. The Huskies advance to the championship match as they won 3-1 in penalty kicks.

Both goalkeepers were busy as HBU's Chris Dodd and Howard's Larry Turner each made six saves. The Bison held a slim 18-16 lead in shots while HBU led in corner kicks 7-4.

Leonel Munoz led the Huskies with four shots, three on goal, while Howard's Joseph DiChiara also had four shots, three hitting the mark.

In the shootout round, Dodd made a diving save to his left on Matthew Marshall, Richard Ojeda's shot hit the back of the net, Anye Ngalia's shot hit the post, ASC Player of the Year Lorne Cameron's shot also found the net. Jamil Devers scored, making the shootout HBU leading 2-1. Kyle Herbison made it 3-1 HBU and Howard's final chance of expanding the shootout, Denzel Pascoe's shot went wide.
