Howard Blanks Mary Washington in Mens Soccer Exhibition
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Jamil Devers scored one goal and Mario Martin added another to lead Howard University to a 2-0 win over Mary Washington College in a men's soccer exhibition at Greene Stadium. The match closed out the pre-season for the Bison, who finished 2-1.
Devers, a 5-11, 165-pound senior midfielder from Los Angeles, CA, scored his goal in the 27th minute off a nice assist from junior Kyle Woodson (Colorado Springs, CO).
Then freshman forward Martin (Summit, NJ) added the other goal in the 39th minute.
After dropping a 2-1 decision to Old Dominion University on the road, Howard has played well in shutout wins over University of the District of Columbia and Mary Washington. It come not have come at a better time as the Bison open regular season play on Tuesday against the Eagles of American University in the first round of the Annual DC Cup Classic on the campus of American University.
