WASHINGTON, D.C.—On Saturday, September 30th, The Howard University men's soccer looked to improve its record as it faced off against Temple University at home. The Bison entered Saturday's match with a 1-6-2 record, while the Temple University Owls entered with a record of 4-5. Both teams played strong defense and appeared to be evenly matched. However, Temple University came out on top by a score of 1-0.
From the start of the game, both teams defended well. As the end of the first half drew near, it looked as if the game would end without a goal from either team. However, with six minutes left in the first half, Temple University's Tyler Whitmer scored a breakaway goal to give the Owls a 1-0 lead.
The second half, like the first, was dominated by defense. The Bison were able to deny the Owls another goal, but were not able to equalize the score. The final result was a 1-0 victory for the Temple University's Owls.
With the loss to Temple University, the Bison fell to a record of 1-7-2. On Tuesday, October 4th, Howard University will face Washington Adventist University at home.
