Washington, DC - The Howard men's soccer team capped its last home game of the season with a win a 1-0 win over NJIT on Friday night. The win marked the Bison's first victory over a conference opponent this season. The loss dropped the Highlanders to 4-10-2 overall and 1-2 in the ASC.
Howard (3-12-2, 1-3 ASC) got a shot off quickly in the first half resulting in a goal from Mario Martin in the 41st minute. Soon after, NJIT (4-10-2) got its own shot off but was saved by goalie Eric Hamilton. With momentum swinging back and forth, the game got physical, with the referee slapping Hamilton with a red card. Michael Bellot relieved Hamilton and held off NJIT - finishing the game with two saves.
The second half had Howard playing mostly defense, with seven shots fired by NJIT and only one by HU.
The Bison now shift their focus to the upcoming ASC Tournament on November 9 in Garden City, NY.
