Bison Take Down Hawks; Fall to Hornets in Regular Season Finale

PRINCESS ANNE, MD. - The Howard men's tennis team took down UMES 6-1 but later fell to Delaware State 4-1 in a pair of MEAC matchups Monday afternoon in Princess Anne, Md.

In the contest against the Hawks, Christopher Brown won No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0 and Neilahb Avasthi took down Dorian Thomas at No. 2, 6-1, 6-1. Armon Murray defeated Michael Davenport 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and Chad Jones was victorious over UMES' Harold Fowler, 6-0, 4-1. Amato Nocera took down William Ntirenganya at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 4-1.

Howard made easy work of the Hawks in doubles action with Brown/Murray defeating Fowler/Davenport 8-0, and Nocera/Avasthi taking down James/Thomas, 8-4.

HU won two singles contests against DSU but fell in the other matchups against the Hornets.

Howard wraps up its regular season at 2-13 (2-3 MEAC) and will await its seeding for the upcoming MEAC Championship this weekend in Cary, N.C.
