NEWARK, N.J.-The Howard men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to NJIT Saturday night at Tenafly RC in Newark, N.J.
Chad Jones picked up the only win for the Bison at the #5 singles spot when he downed Siddharth Verma, 6-2, 2-6, 7-1.
Christopher Brown fell 6-3, 6-4 at the #1 spot and Neilahb Avasthi dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision to Jonathon Lang. Armon Murray had a good outing at #3 but fell 6-3, 4-6, 6-1, while Amato Nocera dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Anthony Turner. NJIT won the #6 matchup by a walkover.
In doubles action, Brown and Murray were defeated 8-2, while Avasthi and Jones fell 8-1. NJIT won the final decision by a walkover.
Howard will return to action March 2 with a match against North Carolina at 5pm in Chapel Hill, N.C.
