Bison Defeat George Mason
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Howard defeated cross town rival George Mason, 5-2, in a non-conference tennis matchup Tuesday afternoon at the Banneker Tennis Courts.
Senior Michael Gee defeated Brian Fitzgerald at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2 before Omar Haloui was edged at No. 2, 7-5, 0-6, 11-6 by GMU's Jorge Osuna.
Christopher Brown was victorious at No. 3 singles with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Dan Schneider. George Diggs won 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 in a tough No. 4 matchup with Jordan Lipstock and Chad Jones won at No. 5 singles, 1-6, 7-5, 6-1.
Tonique Merrell picked up his first individual win of the year with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Matt Vaughn at No. 6 singles.
Howard (2-9) also picked up an 8-3 win at No. 3 singles courtesy of Diggs and Merrell.
