Bison Take Tough Loss Against Navy

ANNAPOLIS, MD. - The Howard University men's tennis team took a hard loss to Navy, 7-0 at the Tose Family TC in Annapolis, Md.
In singles action, senior Michael Gee fell short against Johnny Walters at No. 1 with Walters winning 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (11-9). Sophomore Christopher Brown was downed by Jason Hill at No. 2, 6-4, 6-2 Eric Chavous was defeated by Owen Bullard, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3.
George Diggs was downed by Zach Nicholson in a tough No. 4 matchup, 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-6) while Omar Haloui also had a tough loss, falling to Eddie Kondrad 6-3, 7-6 (7-3). Freshman Tonique Merrill fell at the No.6 spot to Jeremy New, 6-1, 6-2.
HU paired up in doubles action where Brown and Gee lost their match-up against Bullard and Ramsey Lemaich, 8-3. Chavous and Merrill fell 8-1 to Jarrad Smoke and Joe Wiggins. Haloui and Chad Jones were downed at the No. 3 spot by Luke Albi and Jared Teichman, 8-2.
Howard is back in action Feb. 14 with a matchup against NJIT in Tenafly, N.J.
