RALEIGH, N.C. - The No. 2 Howard men's tennis team played a tough three-hour match against No. 1 Florida A&M, but the Rattlers held on for the 4-0 victory in the semifinals of the MEAC Championship.
Florida A&M took the lead after winning the doubles point at the number one (8-6) and three (8-3) spots.
The Rattlers later posted three wins in singles action to seal the win.
The wins were hard fought by Florida A&M. George Diggs took Takura Happy, an All-MEAC Performer, the distance in a 6-3, 7-5 loss at No. 3 singles. Tonique Merrell was solid in a 6-4, 6-4 contest at No. 5 singles.
Howard finishes the year with a 5-13 record. The Bison earned the No. 2 seed after posting a 4-1 mark in league action.
