The Howard men's tennis team were swept, 7-0 by undefeated Navy in a full swing of doubles and singles matches on Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Toes Family Tennis Center in Annapolis, Md.
The Bison (0-6) competed in a trio of doubles matches and six singles matches.
Eric Chavous and Omar Haloui were quickly knocked off at No. 1 doubles by the Mids (5-0), 8-3. George Diggs and Christopher Brown kept it close against Navy's Marcus Rebersak and Anderson Walls. Diggs and Brown would eventually come up short against the Blue and Gold, 8-6 at No. 2 doubles.
Navy would secure the doubles point with an 8-2 defeat over Devard Wharton and Bogdan Dzakovic at No. 3 doubles.
Brown – the only Bison to pull out a win in singles competition last week against Maryland –
was unable to give Howard hope as he dropped to Navy's Owen Bullard, 6-4, 4-1 (ret.), giving the Mids a 2-0 advantage.
With the shutout, Howard remains winless on the season. The Bison will return to action Saturday, Mar. 5 at 1:00 pm against James Madison. Visit Howard-Bison.com for more information on the men's tennis team.
