Rischelle Charles went 7 for 8 and drove in a season-and-career-high nine runs to help Howard University sweep North Carolina Central, 6-4 and 11-5, in a non-conference women’s softball match-up at Banneker Stadium. 

            Charles (senior, Annapolis, MD) proved to have the hot bat in game one as she went 2 of 3, hitting her first ever home run and bringing in three-runs.  Senior P. Nayrobi Nicholas added some offense in the game with two hits (one double), and one run for the Lady Bison. Howard finished game one with eight hits.

            Charles continued with the hot bat in game two, as she went a perfect 4-of-4, with two home-runs, while bringing in six runs.  Senior Debbie Lee contributed offensively in game two, as she went 3-0f-4, with four runs and one RBI for the Lady Bison, who finished the day with a 11-8 overall record.

            Sophomore pitcher Dale McNeal picked up the win in game one allowing four runs off five hits.  McNeal came on in relief in game two allowing only one hit.  Sophomore Jillian Johnson was the winner of game two pitching four and two-thirds innings, giving up five runs off 10 hits.

            North Carolina Central was led in game one by Sophia Blue who went 2-of-4 with one run.  In game two Jameka Little led the Lady Eagles going 2-of-4 with one homerun and three RBIs.

GAME NOTES:  This is the first time in Lady Bison history that a player has hit multiple homeruns in one game…Debbie Lee currently leads the team in batting averaging .500 while Charles is hitting .435 and leads the team with 17 RBIs…McNeal has won her last three starts on the mound.
