DOVER, DEL. - Courtney Young, Kristina Cordova and Dale McNeal each had three hits apiece to lead Howard to a 14-6 victory over Delaware State (DSU), completing the three game series against DSU at the Hornets Nest on Sunday.
Howard improved to 9-10 overall and 2-1 in the MEAC, while DSU dropped to 11-15 on the season and 1-2 in conference play.
Senior Brianne Gutierrez added to the Bison offense with two hits while Sondra Jones and Candice Tatum added one hit each. Jones also finished with three RBI and four runs.
The score was 1-1 after three innings before the Howard rally began in the fourth. McNeal started with a walk off single and moved to third on a DSU error. Tatum's single plated McNeal while Young, who reached base on a left field single, sent Tatum and Emily Johnson home. Gutierrez's single sent Young and Jones across the plate to wrap up a five run, five hit inning for HU.
Howard added eight runs in the final two innings.
The Lady Bison hosts Coppin State in a three-game MEAC series beginning on Saturday, April 5 at 1 pm.
