WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Howard softball team took on the Rams of Winston-Salem State in a doubleheader at Banneker Stadium. Game one came down to the wire as the Bison were able hold off WSSU in final frame for the 4-3 win. Pitching dominated game two as the Lady Rams won 2-0.

Winston-Salem State got their bats going in the seventh. Kayla Woodbury started the inning with a walk-off home run and Amber Shore drove in Whitney Wright to close the deficit to two runs. Desiree Ramirez's double sent Ashley Shepard home to make it a 4-3 HU lead, but Candace Spinks grounded out in the next at bat for the third out, allowing the Bison to escape with the win.
In game two, sophomore pitcher Christina McCoy held the Rams scoreless until the fifth inning when WSSU reeled off back-to-back doubles. Two innings later, Leslie Hollis' sacrifice fly plated Devyn Gillette for an insurance run.
