VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. – Outfielders Courtney Young (Sherwood, Ark./North Little Rock H.S..) and Christine Sborz (McLean, Va./Brevard C.C.) and third baseman Nicole Saez (Norridge, Ill./Arkansas Pine Bluff) earned All-MEAC honors, the conference announced today.
Young was named first team All-MEAC for the third consecutive year. The senior garnered MEAC Player of the Week honors on April 19 and ranked fourth in the MEAC with a .397 batting average (BA). She led the league in slugging percentage (.733), RBI (50), total bases (96) and doubles (17).
Saez finished fourth in the MEAC with a .373 BA. The senior ranked top-10 in conference play in six different categories and was second in the league in doubles with 14. She was named to the All-MEAC second team for her efforts.
Sborz joined Saez on the All-MEAC second team. The junior was fifth in the MEAC in doubles (13) and seventh in runs scored (35).
Howard will face Hampton in the double-elimination bracket of the MEAC Tournament on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
